Importing a $2,500 MacBook to North Macedonia or Kosovo independently means navigating customs, paying VAT and import duty up front, getting a local invoice, and dealing with a 2–6 week delivery window. Then when the employee leaves, you have to retrieve the device. Merot handles the full lifecycle: we source devices through our regional B2B accounts (Apple, Lenovo, Dell), import them under our entities (faster customs clearance, recoverable VAT), pre-image them with your MDM, ship to the employee, and retrieve at end-of-engagement. Concrete deliverables

  • Hardware sourcing: MacBook Pro/Air, Dell XPS/Latitude, Lenovo ThinkPad, Apple displays, Dell/LG monitors, peripherals (keyboard, mouse, headset, dock).
  • Pre-imaging: we install your MDM enrolment (Jamf, Kandji, Mosyle, Microsoft Intune), your security baseline, and FileVault/BitLocker before shipping.
  • Doorstep delivery to the employee's address in MK, XK, AL, RS, BG, ME within 5–7 business days. Identity verification on signature.
  • Asset register: every device is tagged with serial + assignee + model + warranty + purchase date. Exported to your IT/HR system.
  • Warranty + repair: in-warranty repairs handled by us (we do the AppleCare / Lenovo Premier dispatch); out-of-warranty repairs quoted before any work.
  • Loaner program: if a device is in for repair and the employee can't work, we ship a loaner same-day from our spare-pool (Skopje only currently).
  • Retrieval at end-of-engagement: we collect the device, wipe it, refurb it for resale or your next hire, account for any damage.

How it works

Spec the device

Pick from our standard catalogue (M3 MBP 14, Dell XPS 13, ThinkPad X1) or request a custom build. We quote within 24 hours.

Approve + pay deposit

50% deposit unlocks ordering. Devices land in our warehouse within 1–2 weeks (Apple) or 3–5 days (Lenovo/Dell).

Pre-image

We enrol the device into your MDM, install your baseline image, and seal a tamper-evident pouch with welcome materials.

Ship + delivered

Doorstep delivery to the employee. We notify you when the device is in hand. Employee signs an acceptance form (sent back to your IT).

Retrieve at end

When the engagement ends, we send a courier, receive the device, run a 30-point inspection, and report back. Resale or redeploy as you direct.

How we charge

Hardware at our procurement cost (we share the invoice). Service fee: 8% of hardware cost OR $80 minimum per device, whichever is higher. Pre-imaging included. Doorstep delivery included. Retrieval at end-of-engagement: $40/device. Optional rental model (instead of buying): from $90/month per MacBook Pro 14, $60/month per ThinkPad X1; ownership stays with us, full warranty cover, swap on failure within 24 hours.

FAQ — IT Equipment

Why not just have the employee buy a laptop and expense it?

Three reasons: (1) Ownership: your IP is on the device, not your employee's. Retrieval is straightforward when we own the supply chain. (2) Warranty: business-grade warranty (Apple Business, Lenovo Premier) is cheaper through our B2B accounts. (3) MDM: a self-bought device is hard to enrol cleanly into your MDM and may not meet your security baseline.

Can the employee customise the device?

RAM, SSD, and screen size: yes, at quote time. Once delivered, no — the device is sealed for security/MDM compliance reasons. Personal preferences (specific keyboard layout, etc.) we accommodate at sourcing.

What about non-laptop equipment? Standing desks, second monitors at home?

Yes — we source second monitors (Apple Studio Display, Dell U-series, LG UltraFine), keyboards, mice, headsets, webcams, and standing desks. Home delivery, same workflow. Some clients give a $400 home-office stipend instead — we'll process that as expense reimbursement on your behalf.

Who pays for VAT / import duty?

Pass-through at cost, on your invoice. We import under our entity which means we recover the VAT (where applicable) and pass the savings on. End-customer invoice from Merot does NOT include re-charged VAT in countries where you'd just have to pay it again.

What if a device is damaged or stolen?

Insurance is optional ($8/month per device). Without it: in-warranty damage covered, accidental damage charged to you at parts cost; theft is your loss. With insurance: covered up to device replacement value, $200 deductible.

Can you handle iOS/Android phones too?

Yes for company-issued phones (typically iPhone 15/16). Same workflow: source, MDM enrol, ship, retrieve. We don't handle BYOD reimbursements — that's a payroll matter; we can model it for you.
